xxxxxSr. Christine De Vinne will give inspiration to the Conference from her sharing with “Introduction of ‘Laudato Si.’”
Sr. Christine De Vinne has nearly 20 years of experience in Catholic higher education for women. She had served as a professor, director of Ursuline studies, and dean of the school of arts and sciences at Ursuline College. With her experience, she will introduce Pope Francis’ encyclical, “Laudato Si’,” and its abundant connections with Ursuline philosophy of education.


Session II: Care for Our Common Home from Taiwan

 Mr. Ou Chin-Der, Ph. D.
 Chairman of Good Shepherd Social Welfare Foundation

xxxxxDr. Ou Chin-Der will share insight on Care for Our Common Home from Taiwan.” As a former deputy mayor of the Taipei City Government, a former chairman of the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation and an expert of civil engineering, Dr. Ou Chin-Der will share his insight into the relationship between humans and the environment with his practical experiences in Taiwan to the Conference.

About Good Shepherd Social Welfare Foundation

xxxxxFounded in Angers, France in 1835, The Sisters of Good Shepherd came to Taiwan in 1987. In 1994, the Good Shepherd Sisters established the Foundation and recruited professional social workers to develop several services for marginalized people.
The Foundation offers services to women and children in crisis, unfortunate girls, children who witnessed violence, high-risk youths, dropouts, abandoned and abused children, single parents, foreign spouses and their families, aboriginal families, and victims of human-trafficking.

xxxxxSharing insight on “Enhancing quality of human life through Environment-Education in Ursuline Schools.” This sharing will envisage a holistic view of greening and will  focus on multiple ecosystem services suitable for  school/college level children, making Pope Francis ‘Laudato Si’, a part of our life. We can all work together as instruments of God for the care of creation, each with our own culture and experience, our  own initiative and capabilities.
